The nightmarish Garbog Swamp lies south of the town of Rumak. This dismal wetland emerged as a consequence of the construction of immense dams, which divided and impeded the flow of the River of Jhernarth. During the Lith-Crillion Era, a lack of upkeep and mischievous activity resulted in a sizable accumulation of river sediment, transforming vast mudflats into shallow lakes that expand during heavy rainfalls and seasonal flooding.

Garbog is the dwelling place of Abyssal bovines known as Hengihr. Perilous yet sought after for their lactiferous yield and pelts, these creatures migrated to this region following a failed summoning ritual.

The Hengihr creature's flesh is too unpalatable even for trolls, yet curiously their milk is remarkably delectable. The goblins of Nemebhox refine it, crafting a potent and flavorful beverage known as Orulûn's Brew.

In the Nalbirag Gold War (1317 - 1324), the wizard Râlê inadvertently transported the Hengihr to a location north of Garbog. While endeavoring to summon aid from the Abyss, Râlê's incantation was disrupted by a band of Uromon assassins. Instead of conjuring a group of dretch, a stampeding herd of foul-smelling abyssal cows charged through the rift. They ran amok in the halls of Haag-Bre, shattering walls and doors, and leaving a stench so repugnant that both attackers and defenders were overcome with retching. Numerous Hengihr escaped Haag-Bre, fleeing south to Garbog and to other marshy regions further south and along the Jhernarth.
