Torowkrorn is an active volcano of the Giant Steps. For miles in all directions, the icy, snow-covered slopes are blackened from volcanic fallout. Torowkrorn erupted during the Hungrur War (1406 - 1409) and has remained active ever since. The eruption transformed the basin east of the volcano, the area known as Hungrur, into a desolate wasteland where only the most resilient creatures thrive. For a time during the Second Epoch, Torowkrorn's activity also brought the city-state of Krarthjar back into prominence. With the aid of Surtur's minions, Krarthjar stood firm against the Orchish Empire and emerged victorious, despite being vastly outmatched.
Krarthjar's dominance over Torowkrorn and Hungrur diminished during the Third Epoch. This resulted from strategies devised by the Court of One Hundred Eyes. This agency of the Orchish Empire's High Command effectively cultivated discord within Krarthjar's internal matters, an impact that persists.
In the depths of Kazgon, Torowkrorn is nourished by a rivulet of Surtur's Artery, the Skera Hrolmir. On the distant fringes of the towering lava shafts ascending into the mountain above, one finds the holds of Fire Giants and numerous ports. Many of these docking areas, extensively utilized during the Hungrur War, now lie abandoned; while others serve as the dwelling place of creatures adapted to living in or near a raging river of magma.
