Hungrur is a scorching wasteland within the Olmi Hjark mountain range. This blistered basin is a consequence of the frequent eruptions from the Torowkrorn volcano. Aside from the eruptions, the region is relentlessly punished by constant streams of magma flowing eastward into a perpetual lake of molten rock. This overflow then cascades down old mining shafts, into the dark depths below, where it recycles into one of the rivulets of Surtur's Artery, the Skera Hrolmir.

In the Second Epoch, the Orchish Empire claimed the region's lucrative iron deposits. When this territorial dispute was contested by the lord of Krarthjar, it sparked the Hungrur War (1406 - 1409). The conflict concluded when the Torowkrorn Volcano was provoked into a cataclysmic eruption. Within a few years, the fiery outbursts had engulfed most of the area's mining operations. Shafts that once supplied 50% of the Orchish Empire's iron became channels for molten lava. Fortunately, the expanding lake of magma and surrounding wasteland were prevented from spreading further into the verdant lands to the east.

Today, this area is inhabited by fire mephits, salamanders, and other fiery brutes. These creatures were brought to this region when Torowkrorn underwent a period of intense heat. They are generally antagonistic in nature. Even the fire giants dwelling within Torowkrorn face difficulties in dealing with them. The creatures share a level of sentience with their former Githirmil rivals, who are now allies in maintaining control over the restless native population.
