The Trident Reefs are situated along the western coasts of the Lands of Purity. For ages, these reefs have served as a formidable natural barrier for the region's southwestern coasts. In the Second Epoch, they were uncharted by the Tragarans who arrived in this direction from the Great Exodus (998 - 1017). A few Niratar refugee ships were lost while attempting to find a passage through the reefs to make much-needed landfall. After these tragedies, the refugee ships were steered further west, outside the half-ring of treacherous reefs that have come to be known as the Trident Reefs.
In the Black Tide War (1465 - 1486), the Trident Reef and the Titan's Triangle fortifications significantly impeded the capture of Milithian. Today, the Titan's Triangle remains under Malacost's control, continuing to safeguard the maritime approaches to its capital city.
The Trident Reefs constitute an expansive 800-mile semicircular formation that encompasses a significant portion of Adellum's coastline. Owing to the hazardous nature of this region, transit through the reefs is frequently undertaken with the guidance of local pilots. Attempting to navigate the treacherous waters without a pilot requires a remarkable level of expertise, though the use of a detailed channel map can enhance the chances of safe passage by approximately 25%.
