Envisioned by a Covenant defensive strategist named Zurghed, a Zurghed Wall is constructed with sufficient thickness to accommodate a garrison. During the Demon Spawn War, these types of fortifications were necessary to address magic-wielding demons capable of transforming a section of the wall into mud or penetrating it like a miniature rift. Featuring a network of interior chambers, they enabled troops to seal off an assault or at least confine it through a series of sliding barriers and sturdy doors.
The interiors of Zurghed Walls are compartmentalized to safeguard against gas and fire assaults, and to be isolated from other regions. Constructing these types of walls frequently incurs such substantial labor and magical expenses that only the most prominent of cities and fortresses possess them.
