The First Gwaellurth War emerged from a land dispute between Daklode and the Rúmil. It commenced in 1121 when Daklode's legislature asserted that Hertenya was abandoned territory. The Rúmil countered this claim, affirming the territory as a summer retreat for their nomadic people. The dwarves, however, did not recognize such nomadic laws. Having discovered rich gold veins in the area, Daklode offered to lease the highlands to resolve the matter, but the Rúmil declined the proposition.
The dwarves will undoubtedly overturn the entire area with their ceaseless smelting and the resulting muck. The incessant clanging of anvils will never subside, and their smelters will darken the trees and skies as far as the eye can see.
