Fongruk-Toa is an archaic kuo-toan metropolis of the subterranean domain Ikešai.
In the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE), two prominent figures vied for control of the Imgangreth region. These were Tarâk and Blibdoolpoolp, more interested in cultivating a worshiper base than the larger conflict around them. They competed for the allegiance of those dwelling in the subterranean reaches, both seeking the divine power gained through reverence. In Imgangreth, the final clash between the two was the Battle of Dream Madness. Defeated in this engagement, Blibdoolpoolp's kuo-toa legions fled by the thousands through the Murkin Channel - a vast rift that carried them thousands of miles to their new home. Abandoning his followers, Blibdoolpoolp left them to rebuild their numbers upriver of Lake Fishur, where they founded Fongruk-Toa.
Devoted to Blibdoolpoolp, the Fongruk-Toa settlements and their inhabitants were instrumental in Blibdoolpoolp's Ascension (19 Warper 261 GE). The original purpose of Fongruk-Toa was to serve as a temple to the deity. Over time, the temple expanded, as did the number of sacrifices performed there. When they could not find enough humanoid victims, the Fongruk-Toa resorted to sacrificing their own kind or raiding other kuo-toa settlements around Fishur.
In the First Epoch, the Fongruk-Toa revisited their early origins, distant descendants raiding the shores of Lake Murkin. In Year 409, the Fongruk-Toa forged a military alliance with the illithid leadership of Ginrall. Both parties aimed to capture Elalmoth. Following the fall of this city-state, the kuo-toans turned against their Diortfel Pact ally. The conflict between them concluded several years later, with Ginrall relinquishing any claim or use of the Murkin Channel.
Fongruk-Toa extends from the coastlines of Fishur to the depths of the sea. Numerous underwater structures possess pockets of air or feature air circulation systems. These regions commonly serve as habitats for air-breathing slaves. Approximately 40% of Fongruk-Toa's populace comprises enslaved individuals.
