In the formative years of Bralda-Balc, the organization's mandate was to support and assist the populace of the Cal-Thaoun Dynasty. This altruistic mission evolved over time, transitioning from charitable ideals to a pursuit of profit and power. The group's doctors, priests, and alchemists were known as the Anatomical Lads. They were highly skilled, utilizing potions, herbs, and rudimentary magic in their curative practices.

In 1033, half of the Anatomical Lads departed to establish a new institution of learning. They welcomed the opportunity to escape an establishment that appeared to thrive on dread and authority. For those who remained loyal to Bralda-Balc, their choice would prove to be a regrettable one (c.f. Spire Massacre, Year 1115).

Headquartered in Paradomea City, and secretly financed by an unknown party, the Anatomical Academy is the preeminent institution for the study of alchemy and bodily augmentation. Their curriculum encompasses the creation of medicines, magical elixirs, and deadly toxins. Additionally, they instruct in the techniques of grafting and the fabrication of half-flesh golems. Those seeking to perfect golems, enhance the undead, or aid in acts of torture frequently employ contractors from this school. The academy's labs in Paradomea City boast the highest survival rates for operations involving limb replacement or other bodily enhancements. The Anatomical Academy also maintains secret facilities in remote locations, beyond the reach of local laws and oversight. In these hidden sanctuaries, research is driven to its utmost limits, though such postings are exceptionally perilous, with labs sometimes falling silent.
