In 375 LE, the ghost ship Halatrax was plundered by relic hunters under Captain Rarnskeggi. The most valuable discovery was the Scrolls of Maen. Sold to a group of outcast necromancers, the Scrolls of Maen led to a path of necromancy known as Maen Saetild. Those who truly embraced the writings, willing to cross over, became known as the Khaa'khas.
During the rule of Saer Erkjorg (1592 LE - 1535 HE), members of the Khaa'khas occupied influential positions on the general staff and in other prestigious roles.
