In the midst of the Lith-Crillion Era, an advanced race called the Lith-Crillion arrived at Ice Cap and constructed the observatory of Miradalêth. Nestled in the surrounding mountains and woodlands, several hundred eldritch giants resided. These giants, descendants of the Thraedli, were so captivated by the Lith-Crillion's magic and knowledge that they offered gold and their labor in exchange for training in Lith-Crillion sorcery and other scholarly pursuits. The educational curriculum encompassed engineering, medicine, astronomy, and mathematics. This mutually beneficial arrangement endured for nearly a century.
In 1590 LE, the Thraedli determined they coveted all that the Lith-Crillion possessed. They assaulted Miradalêth, seizing control after a protracted three-month siege.
The ancient tomes in our possession described the capabilities of the Thraedli in great detail. However, the leadership of Miradalêth recognized that our relationship was not merely one of instruction, but rather a mutual exchange of knowledge. They possessed insights that were once believed to be lost to the annals of history - arcane arts so devastatingly potent that they could only have originated in the era preceding and encompassing the Creation War.
excerpt from the Libram of Aggda
Miradalêth expanded from an observatory into a thriving metropolis. This enchanting locale featured statues adorned with shimmering runes. Certain statues absorbed lightning bolts, which were then harnessed to illuminate the city. Tributaries of the Marik River coursed through the urban center, cascading in a series of stepped waterfalls. This hydropower drove mills and provided pressurized water to local residences.
When a confederation of eldritch giants established the empire of Saer Erkjorg (1592 LE - 1535 HE), the city of Miradalêth became its capital. Soon after the collapse of Saer Erkjorg, Miradalêth was ravaged by civil war and reduced to ruins.
The ancient city of Miradalêth is enveloped by the Grulvid forest, a deep and impenetrable evergreen woodland teeming with colossal spiders, alarmingly large beetles, and other perilous creatures. The path leading to Miradalêth has long since been consumed by the verdant vegetation. Traversing the Grulvid can be as fraught with peril as exploring the ruins of the abandoned city itself.
