Tolm

Type stone, unnatural
Source Magrâbik, possibly others

Tolm is the most dense material on Bal-Kriav. It was forged during the Demon Spawn War by members of the Quara'tun Covenant. They fused magic with rune-carved stones to channel energy from the Web of Magic. Those that could not withstand the process became fragmented, now rare and sought after. The successful creations became sources of magical power, containment wards, and the like. Much of this material was used to form rings of power around the gates opened to the Abyss, allowing the demon hordes to besiege the Mortal Systems. The majority of Tolm's experiments were conducted in Magrâbik, making it the primary source.

The Lith-Crillion were the next group to make use of tolm. They employed it to draw immense amounts of magical power and transform vast quantities of rock into floating islands with all the characteristics of earth motes. When Miradalêth was sacked by the Thraedli, the eldritch giants gained an understanding of tolm and its application in creating formidable wards. They utilized it to contain the necromantic energy emanating from Frosvirk. This containment field became known as the Maen Fyrk Boundary Ward.

A few years following the commencement of the Thrones War, a specialized group of Tamlêrran sorcerers employed tolm to construct the Magrâbik Monoliths. They created these wonders to function as the foundation for what would become known as the Elemantum Boundary Ward.

Tolm is impervious to all magic beyond what it generates. It even momentarily negates magic within a 100-foot radius. Tolm exhibits the peculiar characteristic of growing exponentially denser as it is transported to higher elevations. Consequently, transporting the material is challenging, frequently necessitating lengthy journeys through the Underdark.
