Elemantum Boundary Ward

Category Marvels
Continent Elemantum
Regions Anubeth, Igas, Magrâbik
Owner Zenduram
Built 758 - 769

When the Pumice Throne and the Glacial Throne were created (751), the lands of Igas and Anubeth were inundated with elemental energy and materials. The landscape began to transform, growing more akin to the elements, with Anubeth becoming a bleak volcanic terrain, and Igas shifting to a glacial, tundra-like climate, bitterly cold. Anubeth and its Glothreth Rift grew more reminiscent of the fiery world Muspelheim, while the Indraph Rift rendered the region of Igas an extension of the icy world Fimbulwinter.

In 753, two years into the Thrones War (751 - present), raids and incursions began encroaching on the territories of the Tamlêrran Empire. The Tamlêrrans struggled against the relentless hordes, fighting a rapidly shifting landscape. They employed magical defenses and cunning stratagems to turn enemy armies against their most despised foes. However, these measures provided only temporary reprieve, as the elemental forces were replenishing their ranks far quicker than the Tamlêrrans could withstand.

The struggle against the Thrones and their minions cannot be endured much longer. Their forces continue to escalate while our own strength diminishes. For five arduous years, we have waged a merciless war, our enemies driven by genocidal intentions. We must now channel all available resources into constructing a mighty ward that will constrain the eternal conflict between Igacin and Anube. Such a monumental undertaking has never before been attempted, but through our combined magical prowess and engineering expertise, we possess the means to accomplish what few others could.

The Tamlêrran combined their magical resources to create a formidable ward that would contain the spillover from Igas and Anubeth. In 758, the first two anchors of what would eventually become the six Magrâbik Monoliths were erected along the southern edge of Magrâbik. A force field rose along the northern borders of Igas and Anubeth, preventing further elemental leakage into Magrâbik and the movement of any living beings. This Elemantum Boundary Ward was completed in Year 769, fully enclosing Igas and Anubeth. The ward is impenetrable by all means except the elements and weather, as no creature, living or dead, can breach it without immense magical power.

In 868, a breach materialized in the Elemantum Boundary Ward. A contingent from the Cinderfall domain covertly penetrated through this opening and ascended the Indûrbathuk Valley. This incursion precipitated the Battle of Ahi Nute and the fabled chronicles of The 222.

In 1829, the northern regions of Midrêth were swept by a powerful storm of chaos. This storm is known among scholars as the Chaos Maelstrom. Its prolonged presence in the area froze the Nautrek sea. It also created a significant breach in the Elemantum Boundary Ward. The Cinderfall learned of this rupture a week later and mobilized an expeditionary army. This force, under Field Marshall Sorenass, crossed the breach and traversed the frozen sea, which now served as a land-bridge between Elemantum and Brucrumus. A few months later, this Cinderfall force joined a major conflict known as the Cinazan Front. It took the wizard governors of Tamlêrran almost two years to seal the breach in their ward. Its closure left the Cinderfall's Brucrumus Expeditionary Force stranded in foreign lands.

The Elemental Boundary Ward has been traversed by utilizing Phaze Keep. This was accomplished in 1801, when the Crimson Eye employed the device during their expeditions across Elemantum.
