Phaze Keep was constructed in secret by a wizard-monarch of Tamlêrran named Nârzâtik, at the expense of the state he was governing. However, the keep was never completed, as Zenduram spies discovered his endeavor. Since the keep was designed to breach the Elemantum Boundary Ward, a violation of Tamlêrran law, the empire dispatched forces to apprehend Nârzâtik and destroy the unfinished structure. Nârzâtik was able to utilize the keep's power of teleportation to relocate to the Giant Steps, where he continued working on the place in relative seclusion, deep within the mountains of Imgangreth. Upon his death, Phaze Keep remained concealed for a millennium.
The miners of Umahanbad uncovered the long-forgotten keep during the Second Epoch. In 1298, the keep changed ownership as Drog'paagol came to possess it, burdened by debt.
The magical Phaze Keep resides within a colossal cavern, its defenses encompassed by the imposing fortifications of Nir-Madyin. The stronghold boasts four outer towers, the spokes, which converge upon a central levitating tower forged from a hollowed earth mote.
The Phaze Keep can teleport from its location within Nir-Madyin to any flat, unoccupied area of the Elemantum Continent. The Phaze Keep is one of the few devices capable of circumventing the Elemantum Boundary Ward.
In the year 1801, the intrepid members of the Crimson Eye utilized the device during their excursions across the realm of Elemantum.
