Rassald hailed from the Torengrarg hill camps. After commencing service within the armed forces of the Orchish Empire, he repeatedly demonstrated his leadership charisma and combat aptitude, ultimately ascending to the position of general overseeing the Southern Military District. Notably, he became the first hobgoblin to attain the prestigious rank of general in the Orchish military. Rassald gained renown for spearheading the assaults against the Gimhak.

His martial prowess was unparalleled, yet his reckless disregard for prudent counsel led to his downfall. Disregarding the urgent warnings of his advisors, he spearheaded an ill-fated campaign against Galstyxe. Among the most formidable contingents was the Geb Vanguard, whose stalwart stone giant soldiers remained one of the few intact units in the aftermath.

The night he decided to assault the location, his succubus companion was mysteriously slain. His profound affection for this fiend was widely recognized, yet he appeared unperturbed by her demise. The orc priests of Gruumsh and wizard advisors grew suspicious of his conduct. They interrogated him and examined his mind for interference, but discovered nothing.

Certain of these counselors were slain and their remains desecrated on the journey to this foreboding crimson citadel - a vestige of the demonic legions who answered to Demogorgon during the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE).

Rassald and his army stormed the walls of Galstyxe, breaching the mountain complexes within. They encountered resistance from hordes of undead, deadly gas traps, and chambers filled with fungi and their spore clouds. The place was a haven for over 100 vampires, including Azalea and several Cambion assassins who focused on eliminating the army's leaders. The battle raged for two days, and the commanders fell one by one. Corpses were strewn everywhere, forming tangled masses and streams of blood cascading down the stairs, pooling together. The blood served as a source for the orc spell casters to summon blood elementals. A dozen such creatures were conjured and fought for the orcs until they abruptly turned on their allies, slaughtering their creators and then engaging the orc squads. The walls of Galstyxe then came alive with shifting chambers and stony appendages, sowing confusion and death among the invading force. The shattered remnants of Rassald's army retreated, but the Orchish forces marched out of the valley with rigid discipline and élan, fending off hordes of skeletal stirges.

Rassald vanished from sight for a prolonged duration, believed to have perished within Galstyxe. Over the ensuing centuries, rumors have circulated among goblin and other humanoid tribes regarding Rassald's fate. They assert that he was enticed by Azalea, captured, and subsequently transformed into a Vampire. Rassald served her as a concubine for a century. When Azalea departed Galstyxe, summoned by Drog'paagol, she ceded control of Galstyxe to one now better known as General Bloodthirst.

Think carefully before encircling an adversary, as it is akin to battling a ferocious beast. When cornered, they will mount the fiercest resistance, for they comprehend they are fighting for their very existence. Rather, provide a path for retreat, and you will preserve precious troops, potentially prompting the enemy to seek peace.
