The Golden Spider is a mechanical device, powered by magic and clockwork mechanisms. In many respects, it resembles a golden clockwork horror, yet it displays no indication of malevolence. For decades, it remained forgotten and concealed within the depths of Flay's labyrinth Torazan Sanctum. Lacking the saw and turret found on typical golden clockworks, Chisel observed that it is "useless for offense and defense, and gets in the way, harmless - a striking contrast to the purpose for which its kind were built, to aid the primordials in tearing apart worlds."
In 1832, the Hulkurân Zagar were dispatched to Torazan Sanctum to locate a villain and, more crucially, recover the first of three relics that comprise the Sig Mak Gan. The group also discovered what they simply referred to as the Golden Spider, which accompanied them without speaking or offering any assistance. Upon returning to the Web in Barun-Mitân, they learned that the Golden Spider held the "keys to the city." Conservator Andî of the Neetch Institute, assigned to the matter by the Pharzîmrâth, explained that "the spider unlocks the door to a sealed-off area within the Geledh Labyrinth."
