Torazan, better known as Flay, was born in the Orchish capital city Gháshulg. He acquired the notorious moniker Flay due to his disturbing propensity for flaying those he captured or eliminated. Rumor suggests he first indulged in this gruesome practice during the Siege of Anarukthalan, where the Maroruk battalion commenced their assault on the Azanûl wall, marking the initial wave's advance against the dwarven fortress-city.

Torazan's unit initiated the assault, and within a mere hundred feet of the walls, four blazing fireballs descended swiftly from the battlements.

I found myself instinctively taking cover behind a soldier, sweeping his feet from under him and concealing myself beneath his body. In the midst of the chaos, soldiers ran ablaze, their skin peeling off as quarrels slammed into their still burning forms. The bombardment from the battlements grew increasingly heavy, weighing down the body atop me. I cast improved invisibility upon myself, then peered out from the cover and decided to halt the suicide assault on Azanûl. Amidst the pandemonium of rushing troops, I managed to remain undetected. Subsequently, I unleashed a wall of force upon the battlements, which was linked by contingency to a delayed blast sonicball. The deafening explosion hurled forty defenders from the wall, many with missing limbs and crushed bodies. Thereafter, ladders were set, and siege towers began to advance. General Togrark, largely unscathed from the fireballs and missiles, approached and field-promoted me to captain.

When the keep fell, I still yearned for combat, growing restless and impatient, and thus devoted my mind and efforts to amassing this exquisite hide.

Flay, at Torazan Sanctum, from a seige journal - "Supple Epidermis"

The battle-mage known as the Mad Wizard Flay was raised and trained within the Orchish Empire. In his later years, he displayed a careless disregard for the lives of his fellow soldiers, leading to his dismissal from the Fograth. However, Flay continued to visit the battlefields, skinning the fallen and amassing a sizeable collection at one of his hideouts. Drawing upon the golem-making tomes he had studied at the Magis Institute, as well as his macabre skin-harvesting practices, Flay assembled one of the most formidable golem armies on record. This fearsome force, known as Flay's Flesh Golem Army, was tasked with defending the Torazan Sanctum.

Flay was slain on 11 Warper 1276 by two entities he had conjured to Bal-Kriav many years prior, the death slaad Groggumblus and the hag Thryunkian.

Flay maintained hideouts in both Grashakh and Cinazan. The most renowned refuge in Cinazan was the Torazan Sanctum, situated beneath the Ânul hills. His principal place of residence, however, was in Grashakh, at a location known as Tridak.
