Tragaran originates from the Supernal language. It was initially created by Lukoon as a means of keeping his military orders concealed from his adversaries. The primordials eventually deciphered Tragaran, but by that time, it had become so ingrained in Lukoon's soldiers that it had evolved into their primary tongue. Sometime around the middle of the God Era, the Tragaran languages helped differentiate the Tragaran race from other human ethnicities. The Yuan-ti, a race derived from the Tragarans, also employ Tragaran as their dominant language.

In the lands of Midrêth, Tragaran is one of the more extensively utilized languages. This is primarily because Tragaran populations are dispersed along both the northern and southern coastlines of the Sea of Mourning and the Pearl Sea. These seas border some of the largest population hubs within the broader region of Midreth.
