Perhaps more than any other sentient item, the trident Buldumech has been a bearer's bane. This is because over the course of millennia, the weapon has grown increasingly intelligent and manipulative. This inescapable fate has led Buldumech's many owners down paths of both glory and destruction. Buldumech's owners have risen to become leaders of their tribes, organizations, and even tyrannical masters of empires, only to see them ultimately brought to ruin, whether by Buldumech's jealousy or sheer boredom. Buldumech is a weapon imbued with abyssal energy, bent on destroying civilization and sowing disorder and entropy.
On the 526th year of the Lith-Crillion Era, the artifact was wielded by the Unstable One in the assassination of Boggleen, the Third Empress of Âkhi. Buldumech instigated the conception of the Buldapus Channel, leading to its unpleasant side effects, press gangs, slavery, and turbulent periods of civil unrest.
Buldumech possesses a malevolent and chaotic sentience, a result of using the psyche of a lowly dretch. When the weapon was forged, a dretch named Buldumech was chosen to imbue it with sentience. This was not a gift bestowed upon the humble dretch, but rather a punishment meted out by his master, Yeenoghu. The demon prince aimed to prevent the dretch Buldumech from progressing through the stages of demon change, from a pitiful dretch to the esteemed status of a balor. Buldumech had once been a balor, but fell in combat while serving Yeenoghu. As punishment for not strictly following his orders and meeting his demise, Yeenoghu collected him from a demon spawning pond. Buldumech, reborn as a lowly mane, was permitted to advance to the status of a pitiful dretch. Yeenoghu then had him captured and killed, with his demonic essence magically transferred into an enchanted trident. Within this weapon, Buldumech's psyche remained that of a simpleminded dretch for a prolonged period, yet possessed the mental capacity to learn. His cognitive abilities were always present, even as a mane, but manes typically do not live long enough to develop them. However, when trapped in a weapon and exposed to numerous wielders over the centuries, Buldumech's mind gradually expanded to equal that of a balor.
The mystical Buldumech is forged from an abyssal alloy and a fragment of the fractured relic Buldadel. Crafted at the Baying Furnace, Buldumech emanates several supernatural auditory effects; the potent Baying of Hounds which unnerves opponents, or the dreadful Cerebus Bark , instilling foes with sheer terror.
Buldumech is an enchanted trident of chaotic and unholy power, bestowed with a +8 enchantment.
