The ancient Kuo-toa civilization of Âkhi is the oldest on the world of Bal-Kriav. It was established by the descendants of the initial Kuo-toa formed within the entropic pools of Blibdoolpoolp Bosom.
Early in the Horgon Era, Âkhi supported fomorian insurgents in the seizure of the Aslauthroan citadel of Harkmaer.
In 1612 HE, Âkhi slavers ventured to the surface, capturing dozens of the wood elves of Rôzadruk. Among these captives was a vampire servant of the Blood Cults of Kezgihr.
I was dispatched to Rôzadruk to disseminate the blessing of Kezgihr (signifying the transformation into a Vampire) within any group I could insinuate myself into. I had only recently befriended a band of nomadic wood elves, so this capture terminated my opportunity to convert them. We were separated, incarcerated, enslaved, and some were purported to have been consumed. In the depths of Chaexidor, I discovered others to receive the blessing, a select few Âkhi bathing in the scarlet splendor of Kezgihr.
Armion, master of the Bamus Sithral - "Âkhi Blood Brothers"
Âkhi has endured numerous vampire scourges throughout its history. On several occasions, these outbreaks have culminated in an empire led by a Blood Cult vampire or even an entire conclave of them. During the reign of the tyrannical vampire lord Antagore, whose thirst for blood outweighed his appetite for power, the population was decimated, diminishing to a quarter within a decade. Conversely, other vampire rulers have proven adept at governing the empire while maintaining a growing populace. Nonetheless, none of these vampiric reigns have persisted beyond a century, as foreign agents have frequently intervened to rid the empire of its undead leadership.
