A Well of Afterlife is a spirit trap that draws spirits to it. The spirit's journey to the well is swift, traversing the universe with but a thought. The first Well of Afterlife was forged and enchanted by Bruh Kreniik. He created it as a means to continue the lives of the living after their passing. At the time, those formed from life energy existed only for the duration of their lives. When they died, their life energy transformed into soul energy, which then dissolved back into Chaos or broke apart into life motes, drifting adrift in the multiverse. This cycle rendered his task of Creation futile, as soul energy was lost to entropy, gone forever. The first Well of Afterlife, and many subsequent ones, were crafted to capture the soul energy of the deceased - the spirit - and then resurrect them.
Bruh Kreniik repeatedly attempted to activate the Well of Afterlife near the Chaos region, but without success. He then created an alternative system and trialed it in that location. This process was replicated numerous times until he developed a configuration that successfully attuned the Well. The first world one of these devices linked to was Lunia. It became the soul repository for spirits of negative entropy and holy energy. Upon observing that only some souls, specifically those of lawful good alignment, were passing through the Well, Bruh Kreniik proceeded to construct nine additional Wells. Each was placed within a distinct system of worlds, forming a network of Soul Gathering Systems.
By the God Era, the Wells of Afterlife had become obsolete. The reasons for this remain unclear, but it is theorized that the surrounding systems or realms had become the primary focus or attraction for spiritual entities.
