In 1482, a colossal clockwork gear plunged through an inter-system rift, landing at the center of the Great Expanse. This device, crafted by the Modrons, measures 1900' in diameter and 300' thick at its core, tapering to 100' at the edges. Originating from the world of Regulus, a Modron team was dispatched to disable and commence the disassembly process. However, for these teams and others, interfering with such mechanisms often resulted in them becoming "rogue," granting them the capacity for independent thought beyond the rigid hierarchy of their kind.

The Gear Monument arrived accompanied by several stowaways. Among them was a rogue modron known as Tetretz, an esteemed expert on machined creations such as clockworks, the Maug, the Warforged, the Modron, and diverse automations.

In the year 1485, the Gear Monument commenced the production of living constructs, clockwork, Maug, and the Warforged. Leveraging the capabilities of the Gear Monument, they proliferated their kind, frequently dispatching them to wander the lands. Some coalesced into groups, eventually establishing their own settlements, with Helmogorn being the most substantial.

The Gear Monument, once part of Primus's home world, now functions as his premier sacred site on Bal-Kriav.
