The triumphs of the Athenian Crusade in the Lands of Purity emboldened those in the neighboring Hells Womb region. In 1543, a covert military pact was signed between those long threatened and sometimes assailed by the same adversary embroiled in the Athenian Crusade. After two years of preparation, the fiery legions of Surticon, the formidable mounted forces of the Council of Bile, and the navy of the Paradomea Syndicate sprang into action, initiating another front with the Black Tide of Thasmudyan, known as the Artery War (1546 - 1554).
