The Bara Bogi complex originated as a mine beneath the foundations of a grand Hofthorm styled fortress known as Krarthjar.

In the reign of Asmorgerd, an exiled fire giant king, work commenced on a valuable piece of intelligence. Acquired from wandering priests, it illuminated the means for financing Krarthjar's expansionist agenda, driven by the indoctrinated followers of Thyrm's Blueprints. The wandering priests, proselytizers of Geb, had sought out those willing to heed the tales of their patron deity. Summoned before Asmorgerd, they were swiftly consigned to the dungeons for interrogation. Asmorgerd learned of a substantial iron vein spiraling downward, which the deceased proselytizers had referred to as the Spear of Dispater.

For countless centuries, miners have been extracting the Spear of Dispater. Akin to the legend of this spear fracturing as it was hurled into the ground, the mines too are dispersed, interconnected by an intricate network of tunnels leading to pockets of iron away from the principal vein. With ramifying branches and shafts extending upward and downward, the entirety bears a closer resemblance to a labyrinth than a conventional mine.

Descending deep underground, Bara Bogi comprises an expansive network of tunnels, including ancient living quarters for miners and merchants, as well as newly constructed habitats near untapped iron deposits. This subterranean complex spans several subterranean tiers, with mining camps and settlements situated along the way.

Like the imposing citadel towering above it, Bara Bogi has been growing and evolving for three millennia.

The toil in Bara Bogi is unrelenting, physically and financially ruinous, devastating companies and state coffers alike. A palpable madness permeates the Old Mines and the fortified valley settlements of Krarthjar. One must seize whatever opportunities arise, yet avoid making it a permanent residence. Every household in this city has mourned the loss of a loved one to the frenetic demands of Bara Bogi, the refrain invariably the same: "the subject worked themselves to their demise."
