The settlement of Cha-ka, constructed by the Auhtai, evolved into a prominent research hub devoted to the comprehensive study of insects. Despite their limited lifespans, the Auhtai prioritized the investigation of longevity. Unlike their close genetic relatives, the Thri-kreen, the Auhtai displayed a greater fascination with the advancement of civilization over the pursuit of the hunt. To confront potential threats, they focused their efforts on controlling insects, generating swarms, enhancing growth and size rates, and exploring other military applications.
In the city's eight research laboratories, significant advancements were made in the field of chemistry, with discoveries on how certain insects utilized sonic energy. This breakthrough paved the way for the development of sonic devices that emulated the abilities of these insects, a technology the Auhtai refer to as Päiki-Synhö.
In one part of Cha-ka, there stands a colossal structure that bears a greater resemblance to a vault than a typical building. This tightly sealed location is known as Alcha-pok. During the Lith-Crillion Era, Auhtai scholars endeavored to command bug colonies. The initial Hive Swarm was conceived within this very place.
In the year 1540 HE, Cha-ka succumbed to a Hive Swarm descendant of Lot 396.
Cha-ka is constructed in the imposing form of a colossal carapace. The towering structure dominates the barren terrain that surrounds it.
In the year 155, explorers commissioned by the esteemed city of Mechantus ventured to investigate this ancient ruin. Their efforts yielded the recovery of rune tablets and Päiki-Synhö armaments. These explorations persisted, though they ultimately ground to a halt after two ill-fated expeditions were entirely decimated by relentless Hive Swarm attacks.
