The ruins of Crillius-Sarrus are situated in the Balormene Dead Magic Zone.

Excavations into the Girân were undertaken to construct cellars for wine and food storage. The digging of the fifth cellar halted when our mining constructs struck a solid stone obstruction. Upon surveying the size of this impediment, it was determined that an enormous statue had been uncovered, with the head and shoulders being the section initially encountered by the diggers. Further examination of the area revealed the statue to be nearly two hundred feet in height. Attempts were made to remove the obstacle, including the use of disintegrate spells, cyclops-forged drills, titan-sized hammers, and powerful alteration magic, but these efforts proved futile, yielding no discernible effect.

Several years later, the archaeologists Muzar and his team returned to the spine of Straiden, discovering an ancient city, still intact, dating back to a time when the gods and primordials battled for dominion over this world. Within Aphalur, they uncovered a tablet revealing that Bal-Kriav and the Golden Seven had imprisoned the stone colossus Ingugrek in this very hill, a prison for the former primordial soldier. Realizing they may have compromised the divine magic through their excavation, they sealed and filled in Girân. To safeguard the area from intruders, they constructed a ziggurat over the prison.

I revisit this ancient volume, two decades having elapsed since we constructed the ziggurat over Girân. An arcane experiment has gone catastrophically awry, generating a spectrum of sounds that reverberated throughout the entire city. Every windowpane lies shattered, and our hounds were driven nearly berserk by the cacophony. The mystical resonances have sundered the enchantment binding the colossus. It labors to free itself from the hill and the ziggurat, its movements causing buildings to crumble, and the ziggurat itself to begin to give way. The foremost arcanists fear we lack the necessary resources to contend with this monstrosity. They have resolved to suppress the magic in the area, hopefully ensnaring the stone colossus within a new prison.

The arcanists have triumphed, but the price paid is steep for us all. A null magic zone now envelops the city and the surrounding expanse. The colossal stone construct has ceased its movement. We must depart this city, for without the presence of magic, we are bereft of purpose.

The lifeless magic zone of this ruin has hindered thorough exploration of the area. The dilapidated structures have become a refuge for numerous undead. Some of the undead denizens can only be vanquished by magical armaments, rendering entry into this dead magic zone an extremely perilous endeavor.

In the Second Epoch, Elderaunt explorers reported locating a dilapidated ziggurat at the northernmost edge of the ruins. Protruding from the debris is the head and upper torso of an immense stone colossus.
