The sprawling Gimirkazân swampland lies south of the Khazarkar city of Nirzanâth. Formed by the drainage flowing southward from Izagûnê and the frequent flooding of the Avalninâth river, this is the wettest region within the Sahânzar basin. Nirzanâth's expansive sewers also empty into this marshy area, resulting in a fair accumulation of refuse and detritus. During the rainy periods, the swamp transforms into a shallow, expansive lake.
Gimirkazân is home to an abnormally high concentration of hags. These malevolent entities are occasionally accompanied by hydras, will-o'-wisps, or basilisks. The basilisks and hydras are sometimes trophy hunted by extravagant expeditions departing from Nirzanâth. However, this has not deterred these deadly predators from taking residence in the swamp. The consensus is that their populations remain stable due to creatures being released from or escaping the Taugkar Warrens.
