The sprawling Gorkith, an evergreen forest situated within the Vale of Mauhúlfúr, became a contested domain not long after the establishment of Gúra in 1675 HE. Native hobgoblins, who had inhabited the region since the Lith-Crillion Era, found themselves at odds with roaming bands of Toomrur seeking resources, plunder, and new territories to settle.
By the Second Epoch, numerous hobgoblins from the region had departed for lands situated beyond the Dargirth river. Those who chose to remain were hobgoblin witches and proselytizers executing the caprices of Melrith and Graz'zt; the latter group initiated a campaign to undermine the Toomrur's faith in Vaprak.
