Built by the eminent mining clans of Thadir, Gulud-Turam commenced as a fortification, safeguarding a mine yielding a consistent stream of rubies and quartz. A substantial portion of this early quartz was sold to representatives of Gulfrek Hjard, ultimately decorating the floors and walls of grand halls and the sanctums reserved for the prosperous.

By the Horgon Era, Gulud-Turam had evolved, becoming an independent city-state with a population of nearly 30,000. They maintained close alliances with Thadir and the other prominent mining-holds of the Khage. Among these locations, Gulud-Turam was regarded as the most virtuous and tranquil, preserving neutrality during the Burn Wars and other significant conflicts of the Horgon Era.

In the Smoldering Anvil War (1032 - 1039), Gulud-Turam was seized by the Zomaar Yelvaad. The majority of the inhabitants managed to escape, fleeing into underground passageways and past formidable fortifications, eventually settling in another Thadir Mining State such as Stalag.
