Hakân is a wasteland of northern Gathrot. It is a product of the fallout from the volcano Groarnfer. Hakân has slowly expanded north from the eruptions of Groarnfer. Most of the lava and emissions from this volcanic area are diverted to the more northern volcano Gruggvein. The movement of the subsurface lava channel to the north was not a natural occurrence. It was done by an army of enslaved magmin. These fiery denizens of Chaos were brought to this realm by Dax Jagg with the intention of keeping Satheon bay from disappearing.

Ever since the island's formation, Satheon has gradually diminished as it is filled in from the south by Groarnfer's lava flows. The relics discovered in Satheon's undersea ruins granted me the chance to alter the course of this island's progression, and in due time, I shall transform the entire world.

The bulk of the work will be accomplished with an army of magmin. I transported these diminutive creatures to this realm from a hellish domain of Chaos, some unrecorded fiery world where these magmin appear to number in the millions. Among the relics discovered in the depths of Satheon was a Durkoth tome on conjuration. I was to learn that its magical writings were incomplete, for although I could summon them here and maintain control, I could not send them back when I had finished with them. As they say, boredom draws the eye of Asmodeus, for these untasked magmin got into all sorts of trouble, causing mayhem wherever they went, setting fires, and ceaselessly engaging in mischievous acts. Thus, I devised the Gruggvein Plan, which will employ the magmin to expand the landmass of Gathrot through the use of Gruggvein.

After Dax's magmin army had finished diverting the primary lava channels and pressure tubes towards Gruggvein, he instructed them to redirect the volcano's lava flows to prevent any wastage. Rather than allowing the molten rock to dissipate, they channeled it along undersea ridges, filling in deep ocean basins. Owing to the magmins' labor and the guidance of Dao engineers, the expanses of Girzinnuk have extended in a predetermined trajectory towards the island of Izrunê.

There are few living creatures superior to insects within Hakân, which is largely the domain of the undead, including a substantial population of undead magmin, and certain magical monstrosities. The undead magmin are the consequence of those who incur the wrath of the Black Tide.

Hakân and Groarnfer are mined by the Black Tide. These mining regions are heavily fortified and closely guarded against the enemies roaming the barren landscape. The undead magmin of Hakân are the consequence of those who fail or displease their dao overseers or Dax Jagg.
