The hills of Hergu'loon were named for an army decimated here during the Hoof Front (215 GE - 230 GE). The Hergu'loon Army, led by a kobold mercenary general named Kurtulmak, retreated to these hills after being ambushed by Covenant forces. Kurtulmak, then under the command of Orcus, found himself in a precarious position, with the Covenant controlling the northern front and the forces of Tiamat - who was engaged in her own war against the Covenant - holding the high ground of the God Rim. Tiamat, a former Covenant soldier, capitalized on Kurtulmak's weakened state, gradually whittling down his army to a mere remnant over the ensuing weeks.
Atop the undulating hills of Hergu'loon lie the hallowed barrows of Kurtulamak's fallen warriors. For the Kobold of Sendaar Jusk and Ashmerthoon, these verdant slopes comprise consecrated terrain.
