The vast bog of Hadraniel's eastern tracts is known as Ikhen. Around the middle of the Horgon Era, an ancient and exceptionally intelligent black dragon, Ikhenholmbrac, held dominion over this region and the surrounding areas. Ikhenholmbrac's longevity was sustained through the use of elixirs and shrewd tactics. The dragon's base was a city buoyed by shambog, a substance that enabled it to float and navigate the great swamp via the extensive canal and river system. Those who faced Ikhenholmbrac's minions were jokingly referred to as the Sailing Hoard.
The primary source of water for the bog originates from the highlands of Urkthal and the seasonal flooding of the Faldelmar river. Ikhen serves as the home to numerous Viidostor tribes, with a yuan-ti presence based out of the Sailing Hoard, and is plagued by hydras and basilisks. The swamp's southern regions are the domain of harpies, griffons, will-o-wisps, crimson deaths, and other perilous entities.
The Ikhen delineates the eastern perimeters of the Urkthal mountains and abuts two seas. For countless eras, it was treacherous terrain for the majority, with only the scaled denizens unencumbered. Consequently, commerce between the Lands of Purity and Hells Womb either transpires by sea or via the Sorrow Road.
