Map Ralban River

The Ralban flows westward from the expansive Gurutharni swamp. It is replenished by marshes along its western course and the torrential runoff from the Kilth mountains. At its source lies the dense foliage of Kazzatar, where the jungle canopy casts large areas of the river in low light. This vegetation gradually thins as the river approaches the mountains and enters western Ma'Ohari. In the western tracts of Ma'Ohari, the river bends southward, cutting through a valley and jungle lowlands before emptying into Salzârrâk.

The river has long been utilized as a passageway for raiding and piracy by bandits and the yuan-ti of Malshirk'iss, as well as those serving even more sinister masters under the demonic rule of Varelay.

The most significant settlement along the Ralban is the city of Tâchumâz. Situated near the source of the Ralban River lies the yuan-ti city of Phlem.

Ralban serves as a haven for serpents, giant crocodiles, yuan-ti, and other beasts. As early as the Second Epoch, the yuan-ti have levied tolls for the portion of the river within their domain. One of the catalysts that ignited the Serpent Reckoning (1475 - 1478) war was the refusal by the Bloodtusk Regime to pay these long-standing tolls.
