Troglodytes began arriving in this area around the end of the Demon Spawn War. It is said that in the area of Trog Run they number in the tens of thousands. This number is more likely the total spread across a network of tunnels andcaverns spanning multiple levels of the Underdark.

Over the ages, the trogs of this region have occasionally served as mercenaries for every Garathral city-state. They are unpredictable in the long run, betraying rival tribes and inflicting more damage than benefit upon their employer.

The Trog Run traverses the renowned Great Tradeway. Various troglodyte tribes impose tolls to ensure secure transit. While the individual fees are regulated by trade agreements with an array of surface and subterranean realms, the cumulative charges remain within the bounds established by these accords.
