Troglodytes are descendants of the Graagvrii recruited for the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE). Prior to incurring the enmity of a demon prince, they faithfully served in the armies of Demogorgon. When this demon prince was driven from Hells Womb, blame was cast upon the Graagvrii defending the Ladneg Swamp. Though never conclusively proven, some claim the machinations of Demogorgon's lieutenant Aameul, who allegedly duped the opposing Hethradiah into believing the Graagvrii had betrayed him. As a consequence of this purported treachery, Demogorgon placed a potent curse upon the Graagvrii of Ladneg. Driven into a decades-long state of madness, they were blinded and compelled to seek refuge in the tunnels of Garâtha, descending into the darkness. Their transformation mutated their minds and ways, rendering most of them vicious, cruel, entropic, and evil.
On the ninth day of Brightstar in the year 621 of the Lith Era, the initial Trog settlement, Troghaven, was established upon the banks of the Damazandal River.
