Beneath the southern reaches of Brucrumus lies an expansive network of underground tunnels. The most prominent of these passages is the Great Tradeway, which forms an X-shaped configuration spanning the Underdark regions beneath the Northern Hordelands, Lands of Purity, Grashakh, and Hells Womb.
The southeast to northwest axis begins in the southeast at the base of the Pyramid of Merioss in the Drarthiel region. From there, it passes above the Green Nebulous, then along a great passage for thousands of miles away to the gates of Dienkigec. Both of these remarkable places - one an old Lith-Crillion research and development center patrolled by Pyrmidian Ghouls, and the other built in the hardened husk of one of Krephus's offspring - have led to theories on who constructed the Great Tradeway. Some believe it was the Lith-Crillion, while others suggest it was simply a great worm aimlessly burrowing away.
The opposing axis of the Great Tradeway commences at Amurlax, a subterranean fortress situated beneath the surface city of Vraga Moltus. From this point, it concludes at the southwest edge of the Ebonmurk, before resuming on the opposite side. The route then extends for an additional thousand miles, terminating near the Sphere Fungal.
Myriad side passages, merging with the Great Tradeway, lead to subterranean domains and other marvels. This expansive thoroughfare has been augmented in numerous regions, with the most prominent being Sidari-Nyx. This extension was undertaken to establish trade routes to unconnected tunnel networks.
The Great Tradeway has endured numerous wars and battles waged along its expansive corridors. These conflicts typically arise from attempts to exert excessive control over specific sections of the passage or to impose exorbitant tolls and taxes on goods. Numerous towns, cities, and empires rely on the unimpeded flow of commerce along the Great Tradeway. Consequently, most are signatories to treaties that maintain its openness for equitable trade and largely demilitarized operations.
