Yennog was constructed during the Lith-Crillion Era by a gnoll shaman who had been transformed into a werewolf. He was revered among the Gnoll tribes as an individual blessed by Yeenoghu. The reality, however, was that the shaman had been afflicted by the Curse of Lyncathropy, bitten by a wolf. Various gnoll tribes collaborated in the construction of Yennog, frequently engaging in conflict over who would build the most significant portion of the site.
Yennog is a formidable fortress constructed in the distinctive shape of a howling wolf. The structure, whether by chance or intentional design, generates a natural yet unsettling howl that can be detected up to ten miles away, perpetually resounding due to the relentless winds produced by the Primordial Storm.
Yennog has never succumbed to enemy attack. The location holds profound spiritual significance for the gnolls, prompting them to suspend any internal strife and unite in defense against threats to the place. Those gnolls with a deep spiritual connection to the site become specialized guards known as the Leptyr Marauders (with "Leptyr" referencing the moon). As part of an ancient ritual, participants surrender a part of themselves to transform into werewolves. This ceremony, the Pack Rite, has historically been conducted by gnoll shamans since its inception. Since the First Epoch, the Pack Rite has been overseen by the Kashu'khas.
The Yennog training grounds serve as a proving ground for aspiring warriors. The regimen is notoriously grueling, with a high casualty rate among trainees. The infamous Yennog Savage combat tactic emerged from the bloodied training pits of this locale.
