Yis-Lorill was founded by the Eärendur, former soldiers who had served under Athena in the Demon Spawn War. Over the course of many millennia, they constructed a tree city, one coaxed into existence through druidic magic, care, and meticulous planning to blend seamlessly with the surrounding forest. They lay claim to the Isaril Forest, engaging in battle with Cormindar's orcs and other hostile elements seeking to exploit the region's abundant natural resources. These resources included iron in the Mynzuth hills, as well as the hardwoods, nuts, berries, and other foodstuffs found within Cromindar and the Isaril Forest.
During the reign of the Kal-Oni Empire, loggers began to devastate Eärendur's ancient forest. Isaril's venerable oak was in high demand for constructing hulls for the Kal-Oni's burgeoning navy. While the other indigenous races of Hells Womb were gradually acclimating to the Kal-Oneans as neighbors, the Eärendur regarded them as environmentally destructive. Overexploitation led to conflict; druidic sorcery was employed to regenerate the forest, yet it could not accelerate the maturation process. Yis-Lorill engaged the Kal-Oni in guerrilla warfare for several decades.
In 1140, the city fell victim to a coordinated assault by two armies, with Kal-Oni's forces attacking by day and Drow allies from Belogrell striking under the cover of night. The decision had been made to ensure a costly conquest, yet avoid total annihilation. Consequently, the majority of Eärendur's populace and soldiers escaped into the forest, traversing secretive tunnels and paths that remain obscured even to this day. Yis-Lorill's leadership and citizens concurred that they were now hemmed in by civilization, the wilderness of the region having vanished. They abandoned their ancient city, migrating eastward towards the Dragon Wall. For the next four centuries, they subsisted as nomads. In 1503, they settled in the evergreen valleys of the Inghild Mountains.
