During the Feeding of Kezgihr (1552 HE - 1798 HE), hundreds of Gimrune sought refuge within the security of the Primus Hexaconta. This was the last place anyone wished to go - the heart of a deceased deity, its ever-shifting halls patrolled by ancient automatons. Yet, once inside, the Gimrune discovered that salvation and the downfall of their adversaries would be achieved through ingenious engineering and technological innovation.
Inside the Primus Hexaconta, they discovered secret chambers containing blueprints and instructions for constructing mechanical contrivances and replacing organic components with mechanical grafts. These individuals, known as the Shi'gah, are referred to in the Abyssal tongue as the "forlorn." Credited with halting the Feeding of Kezgihr and hailed as Saviors of Honmin, they have never coexisted harmoniously with the true Gimrune. The Gimrune view the Shi'gah as abhorrent, perceiving them as cold and calculating like machines, while the Shi'gah consider their brethren a flawed, inferior form.
All Shi'gah possess at least one graft. Within the Dema'tira Confederation, grafts may be obtained as gifts, accolades, or through commerce; furthermore, in Dema'tira society, the greater the number of grafts, the more elevated one's standing.
