The Murkin Channel is an intra-system rift that connects two distant regions of Midrêth. Through it, one can be swiftly transported, departing the subterranean domain of Imgangreth in Brucrumus and arriving in Ikešai, a subterranean area of the Straiden continent.

On 7 Hollow 210 GE, the primordial lord Blibdoolpoolp created a permanent rift in the Web of Magic. Forged during the Demon Spawn War (89 GE - 269 GE), it served as a conduit for deploying her forces to distant subterranean realms. For nearly a century, Blibdoolpoolp's minions spread across the region of Imgangreth, acting as settlers and proselytizers to extol the greatness of Blibdoolpoolp and her near-divine status. The majority of her people, particularly the kuo-toans, were also formidable soldiers. They fought the demons and the Covenant when necessary, allying with whichever faction aligned with Blibdoolpoolp's grand designs. Blibdoolpoolp's greatest competitor for the devotion of Imgangreth's people was Tarâk, as both deities sought the divine power that comes from being venerated, the essence that elevates one to the rank of Higher Power.

In the event known as the Battle of Dream Madness, Blibdoolpoolp's kuo-toan army was defeated by a Grimlock army commanded by Tarâk. The remnants of Blibdoolpoolp's forces retreated through the Murkin Channel, eventually settling in the distant region of Ikešai, where they founded the city of Fongruk-Toa in 241 GE.

The northern entrance to the Murkin Channel is situated deep within Lake Murkin, approximately 2,650 feet beneath the water's surface. The rift entrance manifests as a vast, inky black expanse of water. By swimming into this portal, one is transported to a subterranean lake in the Ikešai region, located three thousand miles away.

The southern entry to the rift, situated within the Ikešai region, lies beneath the subterranean lake of Fishur. This side of the rift extends 600 feet downward.

The esteemed seers of the High Minds in Ginrall are likely the foremost authorities on the Murkin Channel.

Blibdoolpoolp, commonly referred to as the Great Mother by the kuo-toa, established the Murkin Channel as an avenue of conquest, a means of prevailing through sheer numbers. She is akin to Semuanya, seeking to subjugate the dark reaches through the weight of her adherents. The Murkin Channel, created 210 GE, was one such method of disseminating her influence. Her aim was to possess Imgangreth. With its expansive sea, she envisioned its potential for her Kuo-toa creations.

The path ahead leads to the esteemed city of Imgangreth. This well-worn route has long been traversed by those seeking the renowned wonders and opportunities within the hallowed walls of that venerable settlement.
