When the Nermanis Sea receded, the people along its shores found themselves unprotected from Cinazan's restless giants and other hostile elements. One group settled in the western forest hills of Hangath. Predominantly halflings, they had originally hailed from Maurkac and other smaller settlements of the Nermanis Syndicate (712 - 923).
In the Dead Harvest (1130 - 1135), a catastrophic famine gripped the land, leaving the populace in a state of dire desperation. Deprived of sustenance, many resorted to the unthinkable, consuming their goblin adversaries and even their own kind. This grim practice earned them the sobriquet "Children of the Glutton," ardent followers of The Glutton.
