Maurkac was established by Nermanean settlers from Rabaranda. In a rugged yet cultivated region, they constructed fortifications tailored for slingers and crossbowmen. The corridors of its towers and walls were also engineered to accommodate them comfortably while posing an obstacle for larger forms.
Maurkac played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Nermanis Syndicate.
Before the draining of the Nermanis Sea, this location was a thriving and expansive city-state of over 25,000 Nermaneans. When the sea receded into a mere river, the Avalninâth, the Nermaneans fell prey to the menace of Gindinâth's giants. Formerly protected by the sea they commanded, the Nermaneans now faced the giants' advance across a simple ford.
In the year 926, the giants collaborated with numerous sizable bands of gnolls, launching an assault on the city of Maurkac.
The location is now overrun by foliage and devoid of a reliable water source, so the Khazarkar Empire has abandoned the area to the mercy of wild animals and outlaws.
