The Githyanki and Githzerai were the pioneering civilizations to bring true progress to this world. A rapidly swelling population during the Lith-Crillion Era and into the Horgon Era resulted in great wars that kept their numbers in check. After their final significant conflict, the Impar'lex War, they were in such a weakened state that they fell victim to an outside invader, the illithid empire of Ghífthauk's moon Ráglauth. This confrontation, the First Suellk Invasion (135 HE - 150 HE), led to fourteen centuries of githyanki and githzerai servitude under the Suellk Empire.
In the Incarsabec Rebellion (1531 HE - 1544 HE), the rebels contaminated the land and decimated most of the settlements, leaving them in ruins as psychic storms exacted a devastating toll on the Suellk and nearly any other sentient being.
Today, Ghífthauk is a world with scant intelligent lifeforms. Only those that succeeded in concealing themselves and enduring until the psychic viruses expended their fury managed to survive. Owing to their hive mind physiology, which was instrumental in shielding them from the psychic conflagration, the Dromites have flourished.
