The Alpynan Mercantile Dispute was a conflict between the merchants of Merorarg and Gatiranda. At the time, both of these localities were significantly influenced by the merchant class, with Merorarg operating as a syndicate. Gatiranda was regarded as a subordinate of Merorarg.

The dispute emerged over the transportation of goods between the cities. The affair proved quite costly in terms of commerce. For five years, the conflict raged along the east-west axis of the Alpynan road and halted all mercantile traffic for extended periods. The conflict resulted in substantial unprofitable bloodshed, benefiting only the armaments merchants.

The conflict was resolved in 1211 HE with Merorarg consenting to establish Gatiranda as a sovereign city-state. This empowered Gatiranda to elect its own governing council and oversee its affairs independently of Merorarg.
