The Alpynan road commences at the eastern entrances of the ancient city of Merorarg. Traveling eastward from this renowned location, the Alpynan traverses the Pugad Hills, winding around the southern expanses of the Urgunn swamp for approximately 100 miles, at which juncture it veers southward, entering the Elphion Fringe Settlements.
Before Merorarg was conquered by Ba'lith during the Pugad War (812 - 817), the Alpynan served as a crucial commercial corridor between Merorarg and Gatiranda. This route even witnessed conflicts, the most notable being the Alpynan Mercantile Dispute. After Ba'lith's conquest of Merorarg from the Niratar Theocracy, trade along this east-west branch dwindled. The majority of the road's traffic shifted southward to Bithiemeth. During the Gulimbor Cataclysm (996 - 1203), Gatiranda was reduced to ruin, and this east-west spur of the road fell into disuse. A similar fate befell the segment leading to Bithiemeth when that place was destroyed in the Coeus Civil War (1694 - 1697). Today, the road terminates at the Elphion Fringe Settlements.
