The Pugad War was a conflict that erupted between the minotaur city-state of Bâlê and the Tragrans of the Niratar Theocracy. The minotaurs had long harbored a covetous desire for the abundant wealth of their northern counterparts, with a particular fixation on the ancient city of Merorarg.

In the war's fourth year, the city of Merorarg succumbed to the horned legions of the Ba'lith Empire in 816. Those who managed to flee the conquered metropolis journeyed eastward to the fortified bastions of Moredhel, entering the territories of Niratar. The remaining populace was condemned to servitude, eventually assimilating as subjects of the Ba'lith dominion.

When the war concluded in 817, Niratar was forced out of all regions west and south of the Kimaris Mountains. Numerous Tragarans remained, initially joining the minotaur empire as second-class citizens, but later acquiring equivalent rights as their conquerors upon demonstrating loyalty and utility.
