Merorarg was established by Tilnangau refugees. By the midpoint of the Horgon Era, Merorarg had evolved into a prosperous city-state, the commercial center of Azrik. From its riverine ports, merchandise from inland cities such as Gatiranda could be loaded onto Merorarg's ocean-going ships, destined for faraway realms.
Merorarg, a river city at the heart of the Vetoubahr Sector, straddles the Mern, where a variety of vessels constantly ply between the city's two sides. This deep river also sees heavy traffic, with ships arriving and departing from Thrawkrall Bay. The city's southern flank abuts the mine-studded hills of Pugad, an area heavily fortified to safeguard the city's southern approaches and the passages leading to the Pugad Dig.
In the First Epoch, the Year 339, Merorarg and Gatiranda combined their forces under the auspices of the Niratar Theocracy. Though long-standing commercial adversaries, the unification of the two cities was essential to challenge the Khazarkar's increasing power within the Kingdom of Adumul.
In 816, the fourth year of the Pugad War ( 812 - 817 ) , Merorarg was conquered by the forces of Bâlê. Those fortunate enough to flee the city made their way eastward to seek refuge in the strongholds of Moredhel, traversing into the lands of Niratar.
In 945, Merorarg supplanted Bâlê as the seat of power for Ba'lith. This transition was motivated purely by the need for preservation, as the empire's southern frontiers faced ceaseless incursions from marauding Hive Swarms.
In the Domination Wars ( 995 - 1016 ) , Merorarg witnessed an influx of refugees fleeing the Niratar Theocracy. During this tumultuous period, the relationship between Niratar and Ba'lith grew stronger as they shared a mutual disdain for the First Khazarkar Empire, where the minotaurs had once been enslaved, and the Rogue States that suffered under the Khazarkar magocracy's desire to subjugate all of Gulimbor under their rule. As a result of these conflicts and the ensuing magical cataclysm, Merorarg and other cities of Azrik became havens for thousands of Tragarans.
