To the south of Azrik lies an insect-ravaged domain known as Hive. Over the course of more than two centuries, the rapacious insects of this region have encroached extensively upon the territories of the Ba'lith Empire. Devastating assaults, and the menace of attacks that often left no evidence of their victims, proved a significant hindrance to Ba'lith's expansion and prosperity.

In the 1500s, through the application of sorcery and diligent labor, Ba'lith constructed the Moralak Wall. This defensive structure proved instrumental in impeding the progression of the Hive Swarms.

The numerous battles that took place during this war resulted in names such as the Rônnahar Campaign and the Battle of Siganbul culminating in the 15th Battle of Siganbul and the 10th Rônnahar Campaign. Despite being confined to the southern region, the economic ramifications and loss of life are said to have impacted the families across all of Ba'lith.

In 1672, the minotaurs of Ba'lith and the Torgilm Confederacy ratified the Treaty of Droorlow. One provision of this accord was the Torgilm Confederacy's pledge to assist their former rivals in constructing the Sonic Horns. When these formidable weapons were employed against the insectoid legions of Aculeate, they annihilated bugs in the tens of thousands. In certain regions, the piles of exoskeletons reached heights rivaling the walls of Moralak.

In the final days of the conflict, almost fifteen thousand minotaurs perished during the assaults. In 1694, Aculeate became so diminished that it could no longer sustain itself. Its collective consciousness shattered, it fractured into distinct individuals and smaller swarms. Thus, the Locust Encroachment had officially concluded.

These remarkable devices thwarted the unceasing onslaughts of the hordes, yet the insects of the Hive do not rest, they adapt and may one day take flight and resume their devastating assaults on Ba'lith and other hapless targets.
