The Geb's Foothills are renowned for their gemstones and abundant veins of mithril. On 2 Artifice 1821 HE, the Sigatharkin laid claim to the region. They christened the settlement Nurum-Maluk, after the two brothers who uncovered the area's precious gem and mithril reserves.
In 770, the Nurum-Maluk was vanquished by the Âkhi Empire, rendering it a tributary state.
In 923, bolstered by the influx of Sigatharkin refugees, Nurum-Maluk proclaimed its independence. On 5 War March 931, amidst an ongoing conflict with the Âkhi, the Zandûl-Khâl Monarchy was founded under Queen Zandûl. Nurum-Maluk was designated as the capital city.
