The Asvard Fjoll originated as a security force for the city of Megrolof. By the Second Epoch, it had transformed into a fanatically religious sect devoted to Surtur. Individuals with exceptional aptitude were promoted to senior roles, becoming black flame zealots or pyrokineticists.
The ideals that inspired the crusaders of Asvard Fjoll to champion Surtur's cause stemmed from their interactions with the people surrounding Thrammaer. This occurred several years after the downfall of Megrolof in the Allof Stond War. The fire giants they encountered were descendants of a specialized military unit that had served Surtur during the Creation War. This cadre of zealots was known as the Gjalrod-Fral, tasked as inquisitors charged with monitoring the military and any civilian territories conquered by Surtur's armies.
The Asvard Fjoll commanded the troops that deposed Goth-Dyvermoir in 1456. Currently, this faction safeguards the theocratic regime of Goth-Dyvermoir, though only for as long as they accede to the caprices of Surtur.
