Rungveig, a company-sized paratrooper unit, is part of the Griddrir navy. This unit consists solely of azure goblins. Admiral Otroki initiated the formation and training of this specialized force. He pioneered a novel combat strategy - instructing soldiers to parachute onto enemy skyships or ground fortifications. Prior to this unit, parachutes were primarily used for self-preservation if a skyship was plummeting from the sky.
The towering figures of blue-skinned storm giants and milky-white cloud giants intermingle with the diminutive, ice-colored little folk, standing a mere quarter of their height. The small, specialized goblins, outfitted with packs on their backs, operate in coordinated teams of five. These little folk have faithfully served the giants for generations. Each vessel in the admiral's fleet houses two squads of five goblin paratroopers, clad in distinct armor colors to maintain cohesion during large-scale engagements. Belonging to the admiral's prestigious armada grants these goblins an elevated, almost regal status among their kin in Griddrir.
from the Godspawn Saga
One of the unit's most harrowing encounters was the Battle of the Weathermaker's Embrace. In the clouds above Cinazan, they parachuted onto the Pillar of Horns. This jump was conducted in a dense fog, created by the Weathermaker. Due to the poor visibility, many paratroopers collided with the side of the ship, where some were impaled on the enemy vessel's hull defenses, while others missed the target entirely. The unit suffered a 20% casualty rate in this engagement.
Members of this company train in squads of five. They engage the enemy in close coordination, routinely executing feints and rapid maneuvers to encircle their objective.
